Havana Cuba Videos, Photos and Blog from Berman Travel

Experiencing Havana is truly sobering, enlightening and educational. I would not consider Cuba a Beach destination even though they have sensational beaches including Varadero. For travelers from the United States it should be an Exploration Vacation to see the contrast of neighborhoods, meet the people sample the cuisine, visit the historic sights including Revolution Square, dance to the music..Salsa and learn about the culture. Marc Berman, Blogger / Berman Travel Marketing Director

I hope you enjoy these videos and photos I captured and produced on my Havana Exploration with Berman Travel Owner and my wife Susan Berman

An American passport provides entree into nearly anywhere in the world…and now, for the first time in over half a century, Cuba re-enters the list of possibilities.

Please Enjoy These Videos and Photos From Berman Travel's Susan Berman on a Recent Exporation Vacation in Havana. The Berman Travel team has everything you need to travel to Cuba

Take A Drive Around Havana In This Berman Travel BermVid

Havana nights, hazy with humidity and the ghosts of hand-rolled cigars, have long been relegated to imagination.

For years now, the visiting this storied Caribbean country—ranked highly for human development, health, and education—has been shuttered to us, a vacation there as intangible as the steam that rises off its famous coffee.

Floridita Bar Restaurant Where Hemmingway enjoyed his Daiquiris

But no longer, as beautiful Cuba opens up its borders once again to the United States. We’ve all but forgotten the colonial allure of Old Havana; the call of rumba in the night; the acres upon acres of fragrant young tobacco; and of course, the cobalt coastlines of this island nation...but now it’s time to remember.

The Show at Habana Cafe Celebrating the Buena Vista Social Club

Set your taste buds dancing with an authentic mojito and your feet to the sultry sounds of salsa. Immerse yourself in the art of Cuba, starting with galleries of graceful buildings and ending at those of fine art and museums, escorted by the artists themselves. Sink your seat into the cushions of a gleaming classic car, then your teeth into a lovingly crafted meal at a paladar.

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the culture of Cuba is one that is destined to make a lasting impression.

WHAT IS PEOPLE-TO-PEOPLE TRAVEL?

A tour like this isn’t a vacation—it’s the experience of a lifetime. Carefully crafted itineraries put culture at the forefront, providing an authentic lens into the lives of the people of the destination. Activities that enrich, sights that astound, and conversations that will stay with you forever are the focal points, even as you traverse through land- and cityscapes that defy imagination. This category of tour is the only one permissible from America to Cuba at this time, allowing a greater understanding between our two nations through individual connections. A full-time schedule of mandatory educational exchange activities encompasses encounters with representatives from different organizations, institutions, community projects, and cultural icons. Speak with teachers and students, artists, dancers, musicians, chefs, farmers, doctors, architects, and more as part of a small group making huge memories. That’s the power of people-to-people.

Point Pleasant, N.J. – Bubbakoo’s Burritos, a Jersey Shore-based eatery that touts Mexican food fused with American funkiness, is heading south of its Point Pleasant start with a new location in the Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, located in the Quick Bites Food Court (1133 Boardwalk).

“The residents and visitors of Atlantic City are demanding a Mexican-American eatery to join our food hall,” said William White, founder and president of Momentum Hospitality Group, who will own and operate the new Bubbakoo’s location. “We were looking for a local New Jersey brand that was fun, energetic, vibrant and embodied the Jersey Shore vibe. Bubbakoo’s Burritos fits what we were looking for and more. We are thrilled to bring Bubbakoo’s to Atlantic City.”

Bubbakoo’s Burritos offers the usual fast-casual burrito fare such as burritos, bowls, tacos, salad, nachos and quesadillas, but with 16 different protein options — including fried chicken, barbecue pork, Buffalo shrimp and grilled steak, as well as some more unusual flavors such as ghost pepper chicken and sriracha pork. Vegetarian options include a bean-cheese-guacamole combo. And, originals such as The Chiwawa, a cheese-smothered, panko-crusted fried rice ball, keeps Bubbakoo’s faithfuls coming back.

Beyond the menu, Bubbakoo’s offers an environment like no other, with décor reflecting the eatery’s Shore roots, inviting guests to enjoy a host of regional beachside designs, and unmatched service standards that truly make the restaurants feel like home.

“Bubbakoo’s is ecstatic to join Resorts Casino Hotel and bring our infamous burritos, tacos and Chiwawa to those in or visiting Atlantic City,” said Paul Altero, CEO of Bubbakoo’s Burritos. “Coming from our humble beginnings in Point Pleasant, to growing to over 20 locations and now entering Atlantic City, this achievement is a testament to the strength of our brand, one we are extremely proud of.”
According to Altero, Bubbakoo’s has seven locations in various stages of development, with plans have as many as 25 restaurants open by the end of 2018. The chain is looking for experienced and qualified franchisees to continue expanding the brand’s presence in New Jersey and the Tri-State area. Santorini Greece Travel Videos

Santorini Greece Travel Videos, captured and produced by Marc Berman.

The island of Santorini is perhaps the most breathtaking of all the Greek Islands.

The town of Fira's white-washed houses, narrow streets, open-air cafes and glittering boutiques cling to steep cliffs, accessible by cable-car or mule.

To the south is Akrotiri where recent Minoan excavations support the theories that Santorini might be the fabled lost continent of Atlantis.

Greece has been a travel destination since the dawn of recorded history. The stunning beaches, thousands of beautiful islands, wonderful people, great food and centuries of history and culture are sure to keep people coming back.

Surrounded by the Aegean, Ionian and the Mediterranean Seas, Greece gently cascades into thousands of islands with gentle breezes, clear waters and sandy beaches. Greece's magic is exhilarating; it is truly a destination worth exploring.

Atlantic City’s Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall Selected to Host 2020-22 MAAC Basketball Championships

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced today that Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ has been selected to host the 2020-22 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships. The MAAC Council of Presidents unanimously accepted the facility’s bid to host  the championships at their May 30, meeting in New York City.

“It’s a great thrill for me personally to have the MAAC Men’s & Women’s Basketball Championships hosted by Atlantic City in the world-famous Boardwalk Hall,” notes MAAC Commissioner Richard Ensor.  “As a lifelong resident of the Jersey shore I know what a great destination site Atlantic City will be with numerous entertainment, hotel, gaming and dining options to compliment an exciting week of men’s and women’s college hoops.”

Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall will host the MAAC Basketball Championships for the first time in history. The MAAC Basketball Championships will return to the state of New Jersey for the first time since 2003, when it was played at Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton. A total of nine MAAC Men’s Basketball Championships and five Women’s Basketball Championships have been held in New Jersey, including the inaugural event in 1982 at what was the Meadowlands Arena in East Rutherford.

Atlantic City is a year-round destination that is growing with exciting attractions. The area
features exquisite dining, outlet and boutique shopping, world-class entertainment, and much more. More than 250,000 attendees witnessed world-class entertainment and shows at the historic Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in 2017. Atlantic City hosts more than 20 million visitors annually.

The arena was constructed in 1929 as the country’s original convention center and was declared a United States National Historic Landmark in 1987. Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall seats 10,075 and has hosted various professional/collegiate sporting events and concerts through its history. Most recently, the arena hosted the Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship from 2007-12.

The 2020-22 Basketball Championships will be co-hosted by MAAC member institutions Monmouth University and Rider University. The 2020 championships take place March 10-14, while the 2021 championships are March 9-13, and 2022 championships are March 8-12. The championship games will take place on the Saturday of the event each year.

“Monmouth is delighted that the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships will be coming to Atlantic City. The city has shown a great interest in being our host, and the venue will be a wonderful draw for our fans and friends,” said Monmouth University Vice President/Director of Athletics Dr. Marilyn McNeil. “We believe that this decision by the MAAC Presidents will lead to a fabulous destination opportunity for MAAC fans, students, and our student-athletes.”

“We are very much looking forward to co-hosting the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships in Atlantic City. Not only does Atlantic City offer the conference neutrality, it provides a multitude of entertainment, shopping, and dining options for fans to take advantage of while enjoying championship basketball,” noted Rider University Athletic Director Don Harnum.

Iona College claimed its third-straight MAAC Men’s Basketball Championship in 2018. The Gaels became the third team in MAAC men’s basketball history to win three-straight titles, they joined Siena College (2008-10) and former member La Salle University (1988-90).

On the women’s side, Quinnipiac University repeated as MAAC Champions. It was the Bobcats third title since joining the MAAC. The Bobcats became the first women’s team to repeat as champions since Marist College won nine consecutive titles from 2006-14.

The 2020 MAAC Championships in Atlantic City will include a shift of the tourney schedule to the last week of the regular season concluding on the Saturday before the NCAA’s Selection Sunday for the men and Selection Monday for the women.  In noting the change in dates, MAAC Commissioner Ensor noted that, “The new dates place the MAAC tournament in the weekend when all college basketball fans are anticipating team selections for the NCAA Championships and the league membership believes it will bring a new level of excitement for the teams and fans.”

The 2018 Canisius College Economic Impact of this past year’s MAAC Basketball Championships was measured at $3,911,795.50, that was generated from economic fan activity during the week of the championships in Albany. The report includes lodging, transportation, food/beverage, non-basketball entertainment, shopping, and purchases made at the event (concessions, merchandise, etc.). The Economic Impact Study was composed by authors: Dr. Shawn O’Rourke, Nicholl Martin, and Kevin Bailey.

The 2019 MAAC Basketball Championships takes place March 7-11, at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY.  The 2019 championships mark the final year of a two-year extension between the MAAC and the Times Union Center.

ESPN will telecast the entire men’s and women’s championships on the network’s various linear and digital platforms. The MAAC just completed its first year of a new 8-year agreement with ESPN which saw over 300 broadcasts of MAAC sports.
